Parish Walks October - December 2005

A VIEW FROM THE PROPOSED CROMFORD CANAL ROUTE ALDERCAR

Sunday 2nd October 2005- Codnor Castle Heritage Trail

Leaving the Sir Charles Napier site on Cromford Road Langley Mill at 10.30 a.m.  Travel down Aldercar Lane and continue along Castle Lane  to Codnor Castle.  Stop for drinks break and viewing of castle.  Carry on along the road to Monument Lane, Ironville to view the impressive Ironville Monument and Monument Hall.  Continue into Ironville and return along Cromford Canal and Erewash Meadows to Plumptre Road.  This walk is approximately 7 miles with some hills.  A buffet of sandwiches and light refreshments will be provided on return at the Napier for walkers.  Dogs welcome on leads.  Part of this walk is suitable for disabled access up to the Codnor Castle (return via Aldercar Lane), subject to arrangements through Council office.  Estimated return 1 – 1.30 p.m.

Sunday 6th November 2005 – Loscoe Dam

Leaving the Horse & Jockey car park at 10.30 a.m, walking along bridleway 94 to Loscoe Dam.  Return along meadow to Woodlinkin Bridleway and Cromford Road.  Buffet at Sir Charles Napier.  4.5 miles. Return approximately 12.45p.m.  Dogs welcome on leads.  Some hills.

Sunday 4th December 2005 – Canal Walk

Begin at the Great Northern Pub on Derby Road, Langley Mill at 10.30 a.m. An easy going level walk along the Erewash Canal to Shipley Gate, turning onto Laceyfields and footpath 86 onto Milnhay Road. Take footpath 82 and 80 onto Station Road. Taking Pottery Lane and footpath 77 to Cromford Road for light buffet refreshments at Sir Charles Napier at approximately 12.30 p.m.  Dogs welcome on leads.
