in Langley Mill.
The venture, a joint project between FIT4U Mobile Gym and
Aldercar & Langley Mill Parish Council, also received
financial support from Amber Valley Primary Care Trust.

 | LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDREN ASSIST IN
PLANTING 300 TREES
GRANT AWARD FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS TO PARISH

Aldercar and Langley Mill Parish Council has
recently received news of
an award totalling £7,800 (£9,150 gross to include
mentor from BTCV).
This award from BTCV Conservation Group will allow
an environmental
project to
go ahead on the former opencast Godkin site. The site, donated to the
Parish
Council by British Coal in 1995, will benefit from 300 new native trees
being
introduced, with shrubs and wild flower seeds. Picnic benches, seating
and bird
boxes will further enhance the site.

Langley Mill Railway
Station
30th November, 2004
Aldercar & Langley Mill Parish Council applied to
Countryside Agency for grant support to introduce new
facilities and an environmental programme of planting
and maintenance to the railway station embankment.
This station is used by many travellers from in and
around the Amber Valley area, in addition to
Eastwood, Ilkeston and outlying villages.

 | Parish Walks
30th November, 2004
The most recent walk organised by the Parish Council
took place on Sunday 7th November 2004. Led by Parish
Clerk Sheena Trower and Healthy Hearts Co-ordinator
Elen Rees, the 6.5 mile walk commenced at Ironville
Church Hall, setting off towards Monument Lane on a
fine dry day.

 | BTCV Funding
for Godkin Site
30th November, 2004
This site is situated adjacent to three local schools
at Aldercar. Many years ago, the view from
neighbouring Godkin estate was one of black pit hills
blackening the landscape. Following subsequent
opencast mining and restoration by British Coal, a vast
green panorama greets you.
