The most recent walk organised by the Parish Council took
place on Sunday 7th November 2004. Led by Parish Clerk
Sheena Trower and Healthy Hearts Co-ordinator Elen Rees, the
6.5 mile walk commenced at Ironville Church Hall, setting off
towards Monument Lane on a fine dry day. A time to enjoy the
delightful countryside views towards Crich and a look at the
Jessop monument was shared by the 17 walkers and doggie
friends.
Setting off again along New Road
and Castle Lane, over the stile and a time to study the
Codnor Castle. Views towards Underwood and Felley Woods
were a feast to the eyes. Travelling down through the fields
of Erewash Valley, passing Foxhole Lake, walkers took the
Boat Lane to footpath 75 and 74 which led to Plumptre Road.
Back onto 101 alongside Erewash River and onto Erewash Canal.
If you are lucky, you will see the beautiful Kingfishers
hunting food around this stretch of the canal.
Homeward bound along 89 leading to Milnhay Road and onto 82
and rest at the Langley Mill Cricket Ground pavilion.
Healthy Hearts had provided funds for a healthy and delicious
buffet lunch (prepared by Mrs. M. Leatherland) and hot tea
and coffee. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and look
forward to future dates.
